Medical Gas Pipeline

 SPECIFICATIONS:

The “Emergency Gaseous Oxygen Inlet Station” shall be an CMM Alert-1 series. As required by NFPA 99 (National Fire Protection Association) “Health Care Facilities”, oxygen systems having the source of supply outside the building shall have an inlet to connect a temporary, auxiliary source of supply for emergency or maintenance situat ions. This connection shall include necessary valves and to allow for an emergency supply of oxygen and isolation of the normal source of supply. The inlet connection shall be a 1" female npt connection and be provided w ith a plug to prevent entry of foreign matter into the oxygen system w hen not in use. A 1" brass ball valve controls access to the emergency supply, and the gauge indicates the pressure being introduced into the oxygen pipeline. The Emergency Gaseous Oxygen Inlet shall be housed in a w eather tight resessed enclosure. The enclosure door shall be labelled "Emergency Low Pressure Gaseous Oxygen Inlet" and shall be equipped w ith a staple for padlocking to allow entry only by authorized personnel. Amount ing f rame shall extend completely around the enclosure to trim recessed mounting on an exterior w all. The interior of the enclosure shall be clearly labelled w ith instructions for connection and operation of the emergency oxygen inlet. Bronze body check valves with female pipe threads on each end is required for installation in the main and emergency supply pipeline in accordance w ith NFPA-99. A brass body relief valve w ith the relief pressure set @75 psi is required for installat ion in the emergency supply line. The relief valve shall be supplied factory cleaned for oxygen service and shall automatically reseat af ter discharging to provide a positive seal.

Non-Locking Valves

SPECIFICATIONS

All area and main line isolations valves shall be CMM Alert- 2 Series. Valves shall be non- lockable. The valves shall be oxygen cleaned, full port, three piece ball-type with flanges to allow easy service and installation. The valve shall have a bronze body, and a blow-out proof stem. The valve ball shall be bronze chrome plated, and the seats and packing shall be Teflon (TFE). The valve shall have a pressure rating of 600 psig. and be hydrostatically tested. Type .K. copper pipe extensions that are cleaned for medical gas service shall be fitted into each side of the valve. A gauge port shall be drilled into one of the pipe extensions for the purpose of inserting a gauge if required. The valve assembly shall be plugged or capped and sealed in a plastic bag to prevent contamination. Each valve shall have a bracket used to identify the gas being handled by means of a gas specific label. A lever type handle shall be used to operate the valve(s); the valve shall be changed from fully open to fully closed through a quarter turn of the handle.
